In October 2023, I checked a big one off my travel bucket list: seeing Japan. My husband and I spent 10 days exploring Tokyo & Kyoto for our honeymoon, where we spent 14+ hours relaxing in one of the best business class seats in the sky, stayed exclusively in 5-star hotels, and attempted to eat our bodyweight in yakiniku nearly every day (the latter was a dream come true on its own, TBH). We also drank a lot of great coffee, enjoyed many a listening bar, and attempted to shop at every video game store on offer. With these being among our most cherished interests, you can understand why Japan was such an enticing destination for us.
Grilled meats and Pokémon tchotchkes aside, there’s really nothing quite like being on the other side of the world immersed in a totally different culture—especially one you’ve long appreciated. Being able to experience it firsthand as a celebration of our marriage was really special. So today, I’m finally sharing a long-awaited, MUCH asked-about resource: my Japan guide & itinerary! Here’s what you can expect:
🎌 Useful insights like what to pack, pro tips for the bullet train, beating jet lag, why you should get to the airport even earlier when flying back home, and more
🏯 Detailed reviews of each of our 5-star hotels & business class flights
🎏 Our favorite experiences & bucket list
🍜 A comprehensive 10-day itinerary
🎋 …And so much more!
If you’re more of a visual person, here’s a 24-second video montage I posted of our trip that’s gotten a bit of attention 👀
That all being said, this letter—and all my forthcoming city guides & trip itineraries—will only be available to paid subscribers. Building itineraries is a massive labor of love that requires months and months of detailed research that I synthesize from a myriad of both digital & IRL sources. And that’s before the trip has even started! Once it’s over, formatting all of my insider tips, tricks, and reviews into a meaningful format requires considerable energy. I hope you can appreciate that my asking for just five dollars in exchange for all of this time, effort, and insight is actually a really sweet deal.
Here’s the good news: you can become a paid subscriber at any time, which will also give you access to the Window Seat archives. Again, it’s just $5 per month (ALL my secrets for the price of a cup of coffee!!) or you can get a discount by subscribing annually, which comes out to $4.17/month ($50/year).
I can all but guarantee that by the time you get to the end of this letter, you’ll find it was well worth the small investment. Trust me, this is a LONG one and I am NOTHING if not meticulously detailed!! And just so you know, I’m on call 24/7 for those who value this resource—if you have any questions or want even more insight, just leave a comment and I’ll write ya right back ₊˚⊹♡
Now, onto the good stuff:
